I have not the slightest idea on what to do for my position paper! There are two short stories to choose from: “The Great Injustice” and “Merry Maid”. Both stories I have read before and both are good stories.
A few days ago in Dr. Jaya’s class, we did a discussion with our friends and of course none of us were ready because we haven’t started yet. But we tried our best and started exchange some ideas. My group consists of Priscilla, Wani, Huda, and me. Most of us agree that “The Great Injustice” held more current issues compared to “Merry Maid”. It contains issues like giving birth out of wedlock and how society perceives that as a scandal and humiliation to the family. There are also the issue of inequality between the male character and the female character. These are the some of the ideas we have for the position paper.
The problem now is producing it! But that discussion did help me in generating ideas for the paper. So it is up to me to present my ideas into paper.
You are right Sharon.. me too haven't start to do a single thing on position paper. I didnt even thought about it until Dr.Jaya came to class to ask our progress on the position paper. But in my opinion, I think I will do on the short story of "Merry Maid" because I think I have more things to talk about as compared to Great Injustice. Merry maid discussed the issue about mothers' love towarsd her own daughter which I found interesting.
ReplyDeleteHey Sharon, I started to write like few days back. I only wrote like 600 words so basically I haven't finish it yet. And I chose Great Injustice too. I am writing on abortion. My view is that nobody should argue on whether abortion is right or wrong but it depends on the mother because she is the one who is going to carry it or abort it for her own reasons. Anyway good luck in writing your paper! :)
ReplyDeleteme too, sharon. i haven't started to do, but i have the idea to write about which is abortion. so, i will choose to write about Great Injustce. However, my view is different with naomi. i think that abortion should not be the solution for unwanted pregnancy
